who are we
Sport Safety Netting (SSN) is a wholly owned subsidiary of David Golf & Engineering Pty Ltd.
David Golf was established over 50 years ago and is Australia’s leading supplier of golf course accessories and practice range supplies.
SSN has constructed many major barrier netting structures in all eastern states of Australia.
Recent work includes:
• New South Wales
50m x 15m barrier at Everglades Country Club, Woy Woy
105m x 6.5m barrier at The Lakes Golf Club, Sydney
• Victoria
50m x 10m barrier at RACV Healesville
Fully enclosed practice facility at Dorset Golf Course
• Queensland
16,000sq/m netting roof barrier to cover the entire car parks and community nursery at Hyatt Regency Coolum.
• South Australia
Two barriers (150m x 10m & 150m x 15m) at Adelaide Shores Golf Park.
It is imperative in a more litigious society that every effort be made to ensure the safety of
persons and property adjacent to golf courses and other sporting facilities. SSN offers the
experience and project management skills to tailor solutions acceptable to both the client,
its insurer and regulatory authorities.
Essentially SSN design, supplies, builds and repairs barriers to stop the ball!
trajectory studies
This is the recommended first step in most major barrier netting projects.
Given the high cost of these major structures it is important to assess accurately, by
computer modelling, those areas at risk from golf balls under various conditions.
These studies can be undertaken using normal or “reduced flight” golf balls.
The trajectory study uses ball launch data captured by radar tracking. The study will identify
the geographic locations via Google Earth: including 2-4 tee off points on the tee, lines of play,
the key “at risk zones”.
The model therefore greatly assists in identification of optimal heights and locations of barriers.
You receive a standalone report with recommendations explained.
Clients who have received a Trajectory Study include:
- City of Moonee Valley - Riverside Golf Course - Victoria.
- City of Whitehorse - Morack Golf Course - Victoria.
- Shire of South Gippsland - Foster Golf Club/Child Care Centre - Victoria..
- Plenty Views Driving Range – (represented in The County Court of Victoria).

rigging and netting
Rigging is a critical phase to ensure the structure’s integrity. The netting should not be a “spinnaker” in high winds. It is important that the net retain a flat surface. - Only high tensile galvanised hard drawn cable is used by SSN.
- All cabling supporting the nets is on the face of the poles ensuring the structure is “gap free”.
- Highest quality bolts and turnbuckles are used. Helical splices, not wire grips, are used on all rigging.
- All guy ropes are correctly positioned to maximise strength and rigidity according to engineers and trajectory study specifications.
